PUBLIC NOTICE FOR ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT ASSESSMENT FOR THE PROPOSED TOWNSHIP ESTABLISHMENT ON PORTION 2 ALPEN FARM 515 IP, VENTERSDORP AREA, JB MARKS LOCAL MUNICIPALITY Notice is hereby given in terms of Chapter 6 of Government Notice No R 326 (as amended) of the National Environmental Management Act (No 107 of 1998) of the intent to submit an Environmental Authorisation (EA) application to the North West Department of Economic Development, Environment, Conservation and Tourism for the proposed development by JB Marks Local Municipality. Nature of Activity: The JB Marks Local Municipality intends to establish an integrated and sustainable human settlement development (Township establishment) covering an area of 189,9974 hectares in extent, the proposed township will include; 3399 x Residential, 1 x stands, 1 x Education stand, 3 x Early childhood (Institutional) stands, 3 x Place of worship (institutional), 2x public open spaces, 4 x Business stands and internal roads and engineering services infrastructure. Triggered EIA Listed Activities: The proposed development triggers the following EIA Listed Activities; Listing Notice 2 (GN R325): Activity 15, Activity 27 and Listing Notice 1 (GN R.327): Activity 28 and Listing Notice 3 (GN R324), Activity 12 (h) (iv)(vi). Project Location: The proposed project is at Tshing Area, situated on Portion 2 of Alpen Farm 515 IP under Ventersdorp Town of JB Mark Local Municipality, North West Province. Public Participation: All Interested and Affected Parties (IAPs) are hereby invited to register and/ or comment on the proposed application. The scoping phase registration period for IAPs is open from the date of this notice published to 24th August 2026 . Availability of Draft Scoping Report: The draft Scoping Report for Public Review for a 30 days commenting period will be made available from the 24th July to 24th August 2026, the report can be found at Ventersdorp Public Library and it can be requested from the EAP`s contact details below.
