A captain’s knock from India A’s star batsman, Karun Nair, blew away the SA A bowlers on Day 4 of the second unofficial test at Senwes Park as the tourists claimed a 6 wicket victory.
Nair hit a brilliant 90 (144) that included 13 fours, before he was dismissed with the victory target in sight. Hanuma Vihari hit the winning runs as India celebrated a famous victory after being on the backfoot for most of the match.
India’s win was set up by a poor display from SA A with the bat in their second innings as they could only muster 177 all out. Stephen Cook was the lone wolf for SA A with an unbeaten 70 (196) as he carried his bat in a gutsy knock against some challenging Indian spin bowling. SA A experienced a major batting collapse as they went from 137/4 to lose their next six wickets for only 40 runs. Shahbaz Nadeem (3/47) and Ankit Rajpoot (3/15) were the pick of the India A bowlers.
The series ends tied at 1-1 and both cricketing camps will look back at the series where poor batting displays ultimately cost them victories.
