Bobbies Darts Club started as a subsidiary of the J.B. Marks Darts Association in October 2018. It brings the SAPS darts fraternity together with the general public of Potchefstroom.
The club is based at the Potchefstroom Posduifklub next to Paws, just off Viljoen Street in Potchefstroom and is open from 18:30 to 22:00 on Wednesday evenings for practice and open competitions.
Martyn Hill, the media liaison for Bobbies Darts, says the club is looking for members of the public to join. This includes junior players from the age of 12 who are tall enough to take their darts out of the board and can score.
‘Professional players will train them to compete at a national level and, if they are chosen for the Protea Team, to compete internationally.’
Charles van der Berg, the tournament director, ran a very successful open tournament on 19 December 2018.

The results of the first Doubles Open are as follows:
Women’s doubles winners – Montez van Staden and Sanmarie van Staden
Women’s doubles second – Donné van Veen and Edie Venter
Men’s doubles winners – Charles van der Berg and Jacobus Coetzer
Men’s doubles second – Leon Rusch and Markus Rusch
Junior singles’ winner – Elmo Kruger (juniors played round robin singles)
Markus Rusch threw 3 x 180s. Jacobus Coetzer and Izak du Plessis threw single 180s.
Montez van Staden won the raffle of a day entry for four to the Wawielpark Holiday Resort.
Stephanie Grobler won the lucky draw, sponsored by Des Fontaine Sports in Potchefstroom.
Hill thanked the sponsors, Herman, Martyn and Edie and Peter and Vincent for doing the wors rolls.
