Athletes take charge at ACNW meeting

Marissa Swanepoel was once again at her efficient best in the women’s u.20, 5km walk winning in 23:19.42.

The ninth ACNW Open Track and Field meeting saw some of the student athletes and some of SA’s finest fine tune their times ahead of major events.

Some of SA’s top athletes like Wenda Nel and Ruswahl Samaai had Olympic Games qualification on their minds, while other well-known local NWU athletes such as Chederick van Wyk and Pieter Conradie, amongst others prepared ahead of the upcoming USSA athletics championships from 13-15 May.

Marissa Swanepoel was once again at her efficient best in the women’s u.20, 5km walk winning in 23:19.42. Naas Marais and Riëtte Heyns was also one top of game in the discus events. Jerry Motsau also showcased good form in the men’s 1500 metres event.
