Rand Park High School raises R750 000

Principal Alan Wilke announced plans to allocate a portion of the funds towards installing new air-conditioning units in 25 classrooms.

Rand Park High School hosted its dazzling Debutantes and Squires Ball on March 9, celebrating the accomplishments of 72 learners and their supportive parents who participated in the programme, raising an impressive sum of over R750 000.

The Debutantes and Squires programme is open to Grade 10 learners who are required to meet fundraising targets to attend the ball held early in their Grade 11 year, providing them with a year of personal growth and community engagement.

Among the standout achievers in the fundraising efforts were Katie Lesser, who secured the top spot as the Top Debutante, raising an astounding R80 545, followed closely by Robyn Rankine with R72 386, and Mattannah Kidd with R36 473. Joe Harvey clinched the title of Top Squire, raising a commendable
R20 024.

The Debutantes and Squires packed and donated 270 Santa Shoeboxes, as part of their community outreach initiative.

In recognition of collaborative efforts, Mattannah Kidd and Allanah Lortan were honoured with the Top Group prize, having raised an impressive R33 730 through joint fundraising endeavours.

Principal Alan Wilke expressed his pride, stating, “Congratulations to every debutante and squire on their outstanding fundraising effort. I extend heartfelt gratitude to the parents for their unwavering support during this journey.”

Wilke emphasised the transformative nature of the fundraising programme, highlighting its role in cultivating entrepreneurial skills, “It teaches participants a range of entrepreneurial skills as well as communication, goal setting, planning, leadership, and accountability.”
He underscored the programme’s contribution to strengthening the school community and instilling values of generosity and dedication.

As part of their community outreach initiatives, this year’s debutantes and squires packed and donated 270 Santa Shoeboxes, earning appreciation for their meaningful contribution to the cause.
