Catch them while you can: Cosmos draw residents to Delta Park
The remarkable seasonal flowers are already starting to fade, making residents more eager to enjoy the brief burst of colour.
A sea of pink and white cosmos has taken over Delta Park, attracting eager visitors, photographers, and nature lovers to catch them in bloom before they fade.
Delta Park’s open green space has been transformed into a vibrant touch of colour, with a bunch of delicate flowers spreading across different sections of the park.
The blooming of the cosmos, which normally appears as soon as temperatures begin to drop, has quickly become a fascination for those looking to enjoy the miracle of nature closer to home.

Resident Patrick Pittard gave a brief explanation about his knowledge of the cosmos: “They are basically in season now, but they are actually waning now.

They started about two weeks ago in earnest,” he said. Pittard added that the cosmos, which are not native to South Africa, are believed to have originated in Argentina and got to South Africa through horse feed during the Boer War.
Among the visitors enjoying the beauty of the cosmos was 95-year-old Stella Roberts, who said the flowers offer a rare opportunity to experience natural beauty without having to travel far.
“Winter is coming, and it is just lovely to see a spread like this because with my old age, I am not travelling as much and therefore I do not see sweeps of colour often,” she said.
With the cosmos already beginning to wane, visitors are encouraged to make the most of the remainder of the cosmos season to witness the breathtaking scene while it lasts.
