JRA sets dates to repair potholes

BLOUBOSRAND - Johannesburg Roads Agency promises to have potholes repaired by end of May.

Bloubosrand resident Gustaf van Der Nest and numerous residents in the area, are fed up with Johannesburg Roads Agency’s lack of response to pothole repairing on Oosterland Avenue.

“Waterford View Estate residents have been in communication with the roads agency regarding the potholes in our street leading to the estate,” said Van der Nest.

“The potholes are of such a state that it is no longer a question of missing a pothole but rather hitting the smallest one. We have had no luck in getting them fixed in the past four months, and the road desperately needs to be re tarred,” he added.

Ward 98 councillor Matome Mafukwane said he sympathised with the residents who have to go through this roads frustration every day.

“Upon my engagement with the agency, I was forwarded a schedule indicating all work plans to repair more than seven roads with potholes in Bloubosrand. My role is to hold agency to their promises of delivering services,” stated Mafukwane.

Johannesburg Roads Agency spokesperson Bertha Peters-Scheepers said that the agency has indeed sent out a schedule [with dates] to the ward councillor of when they will be repairing the potholes. “The regional depot has confirmed that they are working according to this schedule which started on 14 May and will end on 30 May, depending on the weather,” concluded Peters-Scheepers.
