Moretca celebrates spring
MORET – Community association focusses on family values, not just fighting crime.
The Moret Community Association (Moretca) held a wonderful social gathering on 15 September, where they celebrated spring, community and good old wholesome family values.
It was held in the cul-de-sac on Fifth Avenue and many families came to enjoy the weather and good company.
Meat sizzled on the grills, ice cold beverages were shared and Moretca vice-chairperson Martin Opperman made pots full of his famous pap and chakalaka. Meals and cold drinks were given to all security guards making their way through the area while on duty.
Linden Police were there to show their solidarity with the community they protect, as well as Trojan Security and Community Support Services (CSS), all of whom brought their own families too.
“Moretca organises this social braai every year and all members of the Randburg community is welcome,” said Opperman. “We provide the fires, the flood lights and music.”
He stated, however, that although they were celebrating community, the day was more about the police and security services who keep Randburg safe.
“It’s their day and we provide them with some food and some shade to rest in for a while, before they return to their duties. In typical ‘boere’ fashion, we cook too much, so there’s always ample to share.”
