Suspect appears in court on armed robbery charges

RANDBURG - Randburg Police Station arrested suspects on armed robbery, drugs, explosives and drunk and driving.

A 40-year-old man appeared in Randburg Magistrates’ Court on 10 November on charges of armed robbery.

It is alleged that on 8 November at about 11.15pm suspects entered the business premises in Strydom Park, pointed firearms at the employees

and customers and ordered them to lie on the floor.

They robbed them of their items and an undisclosed amount of money.

The suspects fled the scene, and the security guards alerted the police.

Police quickly rushed to the scene and managed to arrest one suspect, whom they found in possession of some of the stolen money.

The investigation continues to track down the remaining suspects.

Other arrests were made during the week for various crimes.

A 24 year-old suspect was found in possession of explosives in Florida, .

Others were found in possession of drugs, drunk and driving, shoplifting, possession of suspected stolen property and they appeared in various courts on the West Rand.

Warrant Officer Johannes Maja has cautioned the community to regularly test their alarm batteries due to some power failures.
