Meet Deputy Reynier Coertzen

RANDPARK RIDGE – Rand Park High School welcomes their new deputy principal, Reynier Coertzen.

Reynier Coertzen has been appointed to Rand Park High School as their new deputy principal.

Coertzen is now responsible for managing the school’s extensive sports portfolio, coupled with his duties as an educator and dean of Grades 10 and 11.

He started at the school in 2014 teaching science in Grades 11 and 12.

Since then he has selected and developed his role in the sports scene at the school.

He specialises in rugby and cricket.

His favourite sport is rugby with athletics a close second.

When asked how he felt about having a more administrative role Coertzen responded, ”I am sad that I’m teaching less but very grateful to still be teaching at all, it is where all of our passion stems from.”

Following his studies where he obtained a BSc (Hons) in microbiology as well as a Higher Diploma in Education, Coertzen started his teaching career in 1998 and spent several years at Knights College, Monument High School and General Smuts High School.

”Coming from a school that has a great sports programme, I feel I have a good grasp of what high-class sports involves. I feel I can take Rand Park High School to new heights with regard to sports.

“‘I think the most important thing that I can communicate to the pupils is that they have responsibilities and choices. It’s the choices that help build and develop a legacy. I see that as my major roll to ensure that we maintain a high quality standard.”
