Unika Pre-primary raises funds for children with cancer
ROBINDALE – You are never too young to make a change. That is what Madyson Els did when she sold cupcakes to raise funds for children with cancer.
Unika Pre-primary School sold 196 cupcakes to raise funds for children with cancer.
This was not only only admirable, but quite a feat for a bunch of pre-schoolers.
“We challenged our children – and their parents – to support this wonderful initiative of baking and selling cupcakes to help raise funds for children with
cancer,” said Wilma Steinmann, principal of Unika Pre-primary.
“Ms Tilana Müller, one of our enthusiastic mothers, took it upon herself to do all the colourful arrangements. With the help of other parents they created a beautiful cupcake rainbow!
“We are so pleased with the response which raised R1 600. The Governing Body of our school also decided to round up the pupils’ donation, raising the total
amount to R2 500.”
The school used the fund-raising platform to also raise awareness of the warning signs of cancer in children.
With very small children, who cannot articulate when they are not feeling well, or are unable to communicate the source of their illness, it is vitally important for their primary caregivers and teachers to know what to look out for.
Steinmann concluded that they will continue supporting this worthwhile initiative.
