St Stithians beats its neighbours

BRYANSTON- St Stithians Girls' College got their groove back by beating Bryanston High School on 4 April.

St Stithians Girl’s College got its groove back when they beat their neighbours, Bryanston High School 33-10 at the Easter Sports Festival on 4 April.

The two teams battled it out during the second day of the Saints Festival in Court 1. It was also the second match of the day which started at 10.30am.

The first teams that played were Fourways High School against Trinityhouse Randpark at 9.30 am in Court 2, while St Peter’s College faced DSG of Grahamstown in Court 1 at the same time.

Fourways High proved tough from the beginning but they struggled during the third quarter and they almost lost the game to Trinityhouse Randpark.

Some parents complained that the Fourways coach should not have changed players during the second quarter of the match

but they bounced back in the fourth quarter, after their goal attacker was put back in court, and won the game by 33-29.

The St Stithian’s team proved to be too fast and defensive for their opponents.

The Bryanston team lost its focus and energy early in the game and failed to recover resulting in a whipping of 33-10 from the St Stithians Girls.

There were a few fouls that were noted by the empires, but nonetheless, the game was exciting.

It would seem that the St Stithians got their rhythm after they were beaten by Krugersdorp on their first match of the season on 2 April.

Meanwhile, in Court 2 Crawford Lonehill were embarrassed by the Leeuwenhof Akademie.

Crawford tried to come back in the third quarter, but they seemed to have lost energy and they almost played to a draw. Leeuwehof Akademie won 23-17.

The netball matches of the 16 teams that are participating in the Easter Sports Festival, are played in four different courts. Eight teams face each other during the first matches of the day [9.30am] and then the second eight teams follow after that [10.30am].

The last games will be played on 6 April, for more details check saintsfestival.com
