Curro Aurora’s U15 team crowned champions
RANDBURG – Curro Aurora's U15 boys are the reigning champions of the Boden B Tournament.
The Curro Aurora School U15 boys‘ hockey team ended the season on a high note during their final at the Randburg Astro on 17 May.
The team from the school in Sundowner participated in the Boden B Tournament, and throughout the season they maintained their winning streak to finish undefeated.
The team [Curro Aurora] managed to win 12 matches and only drew one.
“I am exceptionally proud of my boys. The commitment, focus and capacity to learn, which they evidenced during the season make them deserving winners,” said Curro Aurora’s coach and operational head Dave Wiggett.
Curro Aurora managed to beat Mondeor High School, St Martins and Trinityhouse Randpark Ridge in their pool games.
They then beat The King’s School West Rand in the quarter-finals and moved on to beating Beaulieu in the semi-finals and Springs Boys’ High School in the final.
“The atmosphere during the match was electric and tense and both teams played exciting, physically hard and uncompromising hockey,” said Wiggett.
This victory means that next year’s U15 team will play in the A section.
“Throughout the competition, my boys displayed quality hockey and were worth their promotion to the A Section next year,” said the proud coach.
