Jolene Martin for Pink Drive

FERNDALE — Actress Jolene Martin is chosen to spearhead the breast cancer fight.

Pink Drive announced actress and presenter Jolene Martin as their new brand ambassador on 17 July.

Founder and CEO of the non-profit company based in Ferndale, Noelene Kotschan said Martin’s interests in issues affecting women have made her an ideal fit for the brand.

“Jolene is a great choice for this role because she brings a lot of intangibles. Her work ethic and ability to connect with a wide audience of women from all aspects of life make her a great choice for the brand. We are very fortunate to have her in our camp and we hope that this partnership will help drive home the fact that, ‘Early detection saves lives’.”

Pink Drive has become one of the most prominent carers in South Africa’s breast cancer community, powering mobile women’s health mammography and gynaecology units. Services include free education on women’s health, free mammograms, free pap smears, free clinical examinations and how to do breast self-examination.

Martin said she looks forward to visiting high schools and showing young girls how to conduct self-breast examinations, as her first point of call.

“I believe in women taking care of themselves,” she concluded.
