Camp Delta Scout Grounds needs your help

DELTA PARK – Camp Delta has been around for decades and needs your help to continue creating a space in nature to learn the values of Scouting.

Scouting is a youth movement which promotes outdoor activities and teaching ‘good citizenship’ to our youth. It was founded in 1907 and is still going strong 112 years later.

At the moment, there are four branches of Scouting for children and young adults from ages five to 35. There are also many adults over this age who volunteer their time to teach the youngsters all manner of valuable skills.

Camp Delta, a Scout campsite located in Delta Park, has been a beloved and well-used Scouting venue for decades. Over the years, many Cubs, Scouts and Rovers have attended camps and events here, all benefiting from the facilities.

Camp Delta has always kept the camping fees very low, to ensure that youth from all backgrounds can enjoy the campsite, as there are people from all over Gauteng that come through to camp here. Unfortunately this means that, as costs increased over the past few years, the fees stayed the same, so maintenance on the security fence has fallen behind, making it unsafe for children to camp there regularly.

Camp Delta wants to erect a good fence around the venue, so that children can once again camp in safety. Safety is very important to the Scouting community.

There are other projects that also need funding, such as:

  • Repairing the leaking roof on the Cub den
  • Fixing and renovating the bathrooms
  • Renovating the kitchen in the Cub den.
