Douglasdale SAPS discourage the purchase of stolen goods

KYA SAND – Douglasdale SAPS pleads with community members to avoid the purchase of stolen goods.

The Douglasdale police advise the community not to buy stolen goods. This came after two incidents that took place recently.

According to police spokesperson Captain Mpho Tshetlhane, in the first incident, a courier van transporting cell phones was allegedly hijacked along Witkoppen Road by unknown armed suspects at 11.30am. A shoot-out ensued between the suspects and the security guards. Two security guards were injured and taken to hospital. The courier van was later found abandoned along Epson Road in Kya Sand with all its goods taken.
Another incident occurred the next day when eight-armed and unknown men allegedly broke into a warehouse at Kya Sand Industrial Park at just before midnight. The suspects stole 15 plasma televisions and fled the scene.

No one has been arrested yet and the police investigation continues.

The police remind members of the community that if they do not buy stolen goods one can help stop crime.

“The Douglasdale police also appeal to members of the community with information that might assist police investigations to contact Douglasdale police,” concluded Tshetlhane.
