Funny dinosaur fish in a pothole
BOSKRUIN – Keenan is not sure if it was a coincidence that the potholes were fixed the following day after the dinosaur was fishing on one of them.
When Rory Keenan realised that people were complaining about potholes in the Boskruin precinct, he decided to be more innovative.
This meant he would clad in a dinosaur mascot costume, cast his fishing rod in one of the potholes in the area. “I wanted to come up with something, so I thought about a character that people could relate to,” he said.
Although this rather funny gesture occurred about a year ago, to this day it still gets reposted on social media.
He said at the time when the video and pictures were posted on social media for the first time, they went viral. As an estate agent in the area, Keenan usually does exhibitions on Friday mornings clad as a dinosaur in Bromhof and Boskruin from 6:30 to 8:30. He said children love his exhibition as it is set up with gazebos, flags and dinosaurs. “When I was doing my exhibitions, I had people complaining about the potholes,” he said.

One day when it rained, he went out to fish in one of the potholes. He said he didn’t know if it was a coincidence but the following day the potholes were fixed.
He encouraged that people should also seek ideas and concepts that will catch the attention of authorities and influence them to attend to the problems of residents. “That time people took tons of pictures,” he said.
He recently reposted the picture of the dinosaur fishing in a pothole on the Boskruin and Bromhof Community Group on Facebook on November 16. He wrote the day that made him famous. “I was fishing in a pothole on Kelly Road outside San Marco and the next minute everyone was stopping to take photos. Unfortunately, I never caught anything that day,” he wrote.
