The team leader at City Power’s Randburg Service Centre William Ramotlale said the power utility was working around the clock to fix all dysfunctional streetlights in and around Jukskei Park.
This was after resident Chris Neumann raised some safety concerns about the defective streetlights and electricity boxes that were often left open with live wires exposed.

Ramotlale said, “Our team has recently conducted an assessment to check why some streetlights were not working. We’ve also fixed all the lights on Saffier Street and other local streets. We will continue fixing the remaining lights in all parts of Jukskei Park to ensure that residents drive and walk around safely.”
The spokesperson at City Power Isaac Mangena appealed to members of the community to work closely with the power utility to safeguard infrastructure that was often vandalised for its metal and copper.

“City Power has been doing a lot of work in Jukskei Park in terms of streetlights maintenance. We have spent a total of R602 704 on streetlight maintenance in Jukskei Park alone since July this year. We call upon all members of the community to join hands with us and law enforcement agencies to stop infrastructure vandalism in the area.” Mangena said.
Neumann said, “I am happy with what has been done so far [repair of streetlights] but we still have others that have not been fixed. I hope that they will also fix all of them as they promised.”
