Linden bowler selected for Multi-Nations games in Australia

Mandy Latimore said that she is looking forward to representing South Africa, meeting new people from different countries who play and experiencing a competition in the international field

Linden Bowling Club hosted a fun game of bowls in celebration of Mandy Latimore’s selection to represent South Africa in a tournament in Australia.

The wheelchair bowler will join the South African squad to play in the Multi-Nations Invitational.

Latimore said at the age of 62 she was honoured to get her national colours. “I’ve had national colours for other sports before but I never thought at this old age I would get national colours for a sport again.”

She has been bowling for the past five years as a person with a disability and was selected in 2021 to be part of the Commonwealth squad.

“I was a reserve and did not travel to England with the squad. This year, I am selected to travel to Australia and I am excited about that. This means a lot to me as the only person with a physical disability that is playing at Linden Club.”
