100 young girls receive sanitary towels

Learners in Cosmo City were provided sanitary towels to enable them to attend school and stop missing classes due to a shortage of menstrual products.

Hundreds of local young girls receive sanitary towels from Good Samaritans.

In fighting for the dignity of young girls, The Organisation for Young Women’s Dignity (TOFYWD) donated sanitary pads to needy girls in Cosmo City

On May 2, the organisation distributed 100 packs of sanitary towels to young females aged 13 to 18, in the neighborhood.

Tabetha Malinga, the founder of the non-profit organisation (NPO), stated that she was approached by Leboang Mdlalana of the Simunye Organisation, which is based in the area, and informed her that they are in need of sanitary products for young girls.

Sikhonzile Malinga, programme director of The Organisation for Young Women’s Dignity, teaches young girls about menstrual health.

“We’re doing this because we don’t want them to be absent from school because they don’t have menstrual products.

“Even though we donated hundred of sanitary towels, we really wish we could have handed more products to make a big difference.”

Leboang Mdlalana of Simunye Organisation said that the menstrual products will put a smile on the faces of young girls and enable them to go to school.

“I had to do something because some of the kids rely on the organisation to get pads. We are really grateful for the donation we received.”

Mdlalana added, “I feel very happy because now they will be able to use pads instead of using toilets papers I also like that they are taught what to do now when they’re on their menstrual days.”
