UK tour improves Trinityhouse cricket team’s unity

According to Trinityhouse Randpark Ridge, the Commonwealth Cricket A-team has long been regarded as a sport that unites nations, transcending borders, cultures, and languages.

Trinityhouse Randpark Ridge Commonwealth Cricket A-team recently completed an exciting tour in the United Kingdom.

The tour was carefully arranged, with the team participating in a number of limited-overs contests, including one 40-over match, and a couple of Twenty20, 25-over, and 30-over games.

The programme included matches at legendary cricket school grounds where icons formerly played, adding to the tour’s historic significance.

In total, the team played 11 matches losing only two.

Schools they played against included:

  • Caldicot School – won by 22 runs
  • Cornwall Hill (SA) – won by 6 runs
  • Primrose Hill – won by 5 wickets
  • Lambrook School – lost by 8 runs
  • Papplewick School – won by 82 runs
  • Moulsford School – won by 37 runs
  • Feltonfleet School – won by 26 runs
  • Eagle House School – won by 138 runs
  • Highfield School – Won by 170 runs
  • Millfield Preparatory School – lost by 8 runs
  • Oratory Preparatory School – won by 8 wickets

Coach Dedricht Liebenberg explained that for many players on the team, this tour marked their first visit to the UK, making it an unforgettable experience both on and off the field.

“The tour allowed our players to bond, exchange cricketing knowledge, and understand the cultures of their teammates. They found solace in their shared passion for the sport, fostering friendships that crossed borders.”

He added that they adapted to the English conditions, challenged by swinging deliveries and tricky pitches, which tested their skills and temperament.

“The tour was a remarkable chapter on our 2023 calendar. Beyond the numbers on the scoreboard, this tour symbolised the essence of what this special game has to offer.”
