Northriding College was bursting with excitement on Wednesday morning when it welcomed its eager Grade 1 learners. Bright young faces with vibrant energy made their way through the school gates marking the beginning of a new academic journey.

The Head of Primary School, Annelize Parmahans, was enthusiastic and explained that the Grade 1s are having a smooth transition into the school. “We had orientation where the children were introduced to everything at the school. So that familiarised them with everything.’’

When asked about her aspirations for the Grade 1s, Parmahans said that she wanted every one of them to walk in excellence. “We are not expecting everyone to go to university, but we are trying to develop what they are good at to be the best person they can be.”

As the first day drew to a close – Northriding College echoed with the laughter and chatter of the children. Grade 1 learner, Lwazi Ngobese, ran to hug his mother with a sense of accomplishment. When asked about his day, Ngobese excitedly exclaimed that it was good.
