Resident association host a successful clean-up
The team is also responsible for eradicating undocumented and illegal loiterers, planning, monthly markets, advertising campaigns, blanket drives for winter, and pledges for community events.

A dedicated group of residents and the Northriding Residents Association (NRA) collaborated on a recent clean-up to help transform their community.
The NRA team is made up of committed residents striving for positive change within the community. Through active participation, and partnership with the community, the team initiates projects to enhance the suburb recently joined forces with the community and other stakeholders in a cleanup.

Lerato Sehome, a member of the team explained that the idea came up as a result of lack of service delivery by the municipality which prompted the NRA to commit to a clean-up every third week going forward.

“With the volunteers from the community, we came together to make a difference.”
22 community members and 90 members from the BAPS Ashram (men, women and kids) came together and cleaned portions of the streets within the Northriding area.
Danzinger and Ascot Avenue, Derby and Hyperion Drive up to Pritchard Street and Malibongwe Drive all got a makeover.

She added that it’s extremely important that all residents have a vested interest in terms of their return on investment, safety and better living environment.
The association is also involved in engaging the municipality on area issues and driving improvement plans to resolution, by enabling escalations directly and in parallel with the local ward councillor. Escalations on faults and security awareness via the partners.

Northriding Residents Association’s administration team, collaborated with security companies such as Onarmor, Lonwabo, Tactech, Syscontrol and Tactical Reaction Security Services to make the clean-up a success.
