SASCS is a series for racing motorcycles on short circuits or go-kart tracks. The bikes are modified to allow for racing on tar instead of dirt. It is the only series currently allowing youngsters from the age of five to race competitively on racetracks. The series is sanctioned by World of Motorsport South Africa (Womza) which inspects and approves all the tracks raced on.
The championship was still up for grabs at the beginning of the final round. James had a 22-point lead over his nearest competitor in second but he managed to secure pole position and won all three heats on the day to clinch the 2024 championship by 46 points.

It was a very closely fought championship throughout the year with the lead changing hands four times during the season. Ultimately James was leading the championship when it counted the most.
James said, “I am proud of my progress through the year because I went a lot faster than I did at the beginning of the year. My plan for the last race was to have a good qualifying and start from pole position so I could try to lead into the first corner. I’m very happy because that’s what I managed to do.”
Controlling his emotions and nerves were some of the challenges he faced during the series. “My rivals were very fast this year so we needed to do better in each race to beat them. I am very proud because of all the hard work me and my dad have put in paid off, now we have the big trophy to be happy about.”
The young rider will be stepping up a class next year and will ride a much faster bike. He promised to work even harder to try and win races again.
