Young talented players flocked Old Parks and gave it their all in the scorching heat to impress the coaches.

Travis Kitch, of Old Parks, explained that they’re in the growing stages of their club, and this is the first year entering the competitive championship league.
“We are looking forward to the challenge. We are trying to increase our reach with the different boys in our surrounding areas. We are very saturated in terms of the teams that are around the area. There is always talent out here that we want to see, and that is why we host the trials.”
He added that the trials went well, they saw many new faces and talent they’d never seen before, and they look forward to the upcoming season.

Old Parks coaches were looking for various qualities like, basics, reading of the game, and technical ability on the young trialists.
“Football is a simple game that’s often made complicated. We are looking at players that keep things simple, and have the physical attribute. We are happy with the new faces we have seen. We will still need to mature their talent, improve their strengths and weaknesses, and try to develop them for the teams.”

He further stated that there is still a long way to go, but they like what they saw in the trials. “Hopefully, we will be able to hone their skills at the training sessions before the league starts.”
The championship league is competitive, with teams such as Wits, Randburg FC, and Stars of Africa. Kitch said that they know it will be a tough challenge but they are ready to compete.

“With our teams, last year, we played well, punching above our weights in the RCLFA cup, so, we will do our best in the new league. We are there to compete. We will assess our improvements, and go again in the following years.”
