The Hope SA Foundation runs food drives, skills development programmes, and disaster relief initiatives to support vulnerable communities.
Their recent projects include:
• A back-to-school stationery drive, which equipped children across SA with essential school supplies,
• Food and rescue efforts for motorists and families stranded in the snow along Van Reenen’s Pass in September 2024, and
• Disaster relief for Randfontein residents after the November 2024 tornado and hailstorm.
IIE-Vega’s online centre also supported the foundation’s Boksburg explosion relief efforts in December 2022.
Namritha Sivsanker, of the Hope SA Foundation, said that they are incredibly grateful for this support. “These funds will provide eye tests and glasses for children in need, which will improve their learning. It will also help us provide nutritious meals to vulnerable individuals.”
Louise Wiseman, IIE-Vega managing director, concluded that they believe that supporting the communities in which they live is their responsibility, and thus, it is interwoven into their curriculum and culture. “This year end CSI initiative, launched three years ago, encourages our campuses to engage with a charity or non-government organisations (NGO) of their choice, which brings this belief to life.”
