Randpark Ridge patrols aim to deter crime

A high-visibility initiative in Randpark Ridge, Boskruin and Bromhof is helping police and CPF teams boost safety and share travel tips with residents.

Residents of Randpark Ridge, Boskruin and Bromhof have likely noticed more police and security presence in their areas over the past few weeks.
This is part of a planned high-visibility initiative organised by the Honeydew CPF Sector 1, in partnership with SAPS and private security companies.

The initiative aims to make communities safer by increasing visibility and building stronger ties with the public. While patrolling key areas, the teams have also been handing out pamphlets with simple and helpful safety tips, especially for residents and domestic staff who travel to and from work.

These safety tips include advice on staying alert while walking, what to do if followed, and how to react in a suspicious situation. According to the CPF, improving awareness can go a long way in preventing crime.

Local police and security officers are joining forces to patrol key areas, hand out safety pamphlets and engage with residents during peak travel hours.

“Presence is a big part of prevention,” said Honeydew CPF public relations officer, Micheal Steyn. “When criminals see the police, CPF and security teams working together in public spaces, it sends a strong message that our communities are protected.”

Residents are encouraged to greet and chat with the teams when they see them. The CPF hopes these interactions will not only improve safety but also help build trust between law enforcement and the people they serve.

Community members who would like to get involved or learn more are welcome to attend CPF meetings or follow Honeydew CPF Sector 1’s social media pages for updates.

For now, locals can expect to continue seeing the friendly faces of their community safety teams watching, helping and always ready to engage.
