Footprints learners take to the sky at hero-themed sports day

Footprints School hosted a superhero-themed sports day, filled with exciting challenges, joyful moments, and strong community spirit that brought learners, parents, and staff together.

Footprints Special Needs School turned into a superhero playground this past Saturday, as learners, parents, and staff came together for their exciting annual sports day.

With bright costumes and even brighter smiles, the theme for the day was: Superheroes, and everyone embraced it with full energy and heart. The event was led by the school’s biokineticist, Tamzin Rowe, who guided a range of fun and challenging superhero-themed activities.

Learners took part in games like spiderweb toss, Flash dance, Hulk smash, the Thor challenge, and Wonder Woman knock down. Parents also had their moment to shine in the action-packed Iron Man rescue, showing that superhero strength runs in the family.

The day ended with cheers and celebrations as the red team, named Spider-Man, took the win and were crowned champions of the day. The yellow team, Batman, proudly received the Spirit Cup for showing great teamwork and enthusiasm throughout the event.

Beyond the games and friendly competition, the day was also a celebration of unity and community. Families gathered after the activities to enjoy tasty boerewors rolls, which were kindly donated by the Van Moorst family and braaied by the Van Heerden family.

With laughter, teamwork, and superhero spirit in the air, this year’s sports day was a joyful reminder of the power of inclusion, support, and fun at Footprints.
