Mailula Football Club call son community to aid them in their good work
Assistance to fix Ground 52 in Zandspruit is needed, so Mailula Football Club can continue to get kids off the streets and onto the soccer pitch.
Growing up in an informal settlement like Zandspruit, Honeydew can be tough. Many young people face challenges that can affect their future, such as limited access to resources, opportunities, and support.
Mailula Football Club is working hard to change this narrative by providing a safe and supportive environment for kids to play soccer and stay active.

Based in Ground 52, Mailula Football Club is a haven for children in the community. The club provides a safe space for young people to come together, play soccer, and stay active. By doing so, it keeps them away from negative influences and gives them a chance to develop their skills, build their confidence, and forge positive relationships with their peers and coaches.
The club’s impact goes beyond just the game of soccer; it’s about providing a sense of purpose and direction for young people who might otherwise feel lost and disconnected. By investing in these children, the club is investing in the future of the community. And the results are already evident. Many of the club’s alumni have gone on to play for top teams, such as Stellenbosch FC and Kaizer Chiefs, becoming role models for younger kids in the area.
However, the current state of Ground 52 poses a challenge. The ground needs fixing to ensure the children can play safely and develop their skills without risking injury. That’s why Mailula Football Club is working hard to raise funds to renovate the ground and provide the necessary facilities. By doing so, the club can continue to nurture young talent and keep them on the right path.
Faraday Maepa, coach and soccer events planner, said: “In the area that we are in, soccer is more than just a game; it’s a lifeline for our young people. It keeps them off the streets, gives them a sense of belonging, and provides them with a chance to succeed.
