Bromhof based martial arts academy brings martial artists together for their Inter-Club Championship

Young and old martial artists gathered at Hoerskool Randburg for the Inter-Club Championship hosted by KJD (Kwanjangdo) Martial Arts Academy.

Grand master Lorraine and Samonim Lee, from the KJD (Kwanjangdo) Martial Arts Academy at the Parkside Centre in Bromhof, hosted the Inter-Club Championship on November 9 at Hoërskool Randburg.

Over 70 students were in attendance from UTEG Vanderbijlpark, Taebek Centurion, Baekho, the Bryanston Club, and KJD Randburg.

Lorraine explained that it was a fun-filled day. The KJD Randburg demo team, consisting of Jonathan Maseela, Owen Welthagen, Aaryan Khadua, Johaar Khadua, Alakhe Shingwenyana, Jordan Govender, Kairav Kishori, Thabo Mpofu, Sarah Ishmail, Bhutana Malulekan, and Malcom Thonger, used sticks, nunchakus, daggers, mini swords, and various fighting styles all put to music to entertain the crowd.

Three of the KJD Randburg senior students, Dirk Krommenhoek, Marinus Krommenhoek, and Reg Krommenhoed, performed a Gumdo (swords) and Hapkido (Aikido) demonstration, which went down very well.

Two junior students from KJD Randburg, Rome Bartleson and Noa Artman, performed their demo for Dogwan poomsae.

In the Taekwondo section there were medals awarded to the best Poomsae (Patterns) in their category, as well as Kyrugi (fighting).

Two juniors from KJD Randburg, Thabo Mpofu and Ethan Okuomose, won gold medals for their fights.

“We would like to thank all students and parents for attending, and a big congratulations to all the medal and trophy winners. A big thank you to all the clubs for their participation and to the officials who worked extremely hard,” said Lorraine.
