The Kings School principal welcomes community to 2025

Ready to create more memories, The Kings School Robin Hills welcomes in the new year, ready to make the dreams and wishes of their pupils a reality.

Gerda Buys, The Kings School Robin Hills high school principal, welcomes the learners and parents back from holidays to the new year.

She said that they are excited to welcome all learners – new and old – back to school.

“We are a family school, and we love having learners from preschool to matric on one campus, with some families having up to four siblings attending our school. We are a school community in which every learner is valued for who they are as a person, and we want to partner with parents in seeing each learner grow and thrive.”

The school’s spiritual theme for 2025 is: Grace, based on Ephesians 2:8: “For it is by grace that you have been saved, through faith – and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God”.

She explained that the school turned 40 years old in 2024, and so, as they enter 2025, they want to build on the strong foundations of educational, sporting, and cultural excellence, whilst guiding their learners in their Christian faith.

“We aim to continue to be socially relevant, equipping our learners with the vital skills of creativity, critical thinking, leadership, emotional and social intelligence, and digital literacy. We continue with our computer skills and robotics programmes across the school, which are wonderful additions to our solid academic programme which prepares our learners for the IEB matric exams.”

She added that they love and look forward to seeing their pre-schoolers being stimulated during fun class activities, as well as outdoors on their playground in the new year.

The primary school learners are ready to embrace all the academic, sporting, and cultural activities on offer. While the high school learners are excited about going on their annual school camps, which are a time of bonding, fun, leadership development and, for the Grade 10 learners, an opportunity for community service.

“We encourage everyone to try something new. Maybe this is the year to join the choir, or try out for that sports team. Set those goals, and then don’t be afraid to start small. Daily, consistent habits are what create lasting change. And lastly, don’t do it alone. You can bravely face the challenges of the year with the support of your friends, teachers, parents, and God’s unchanging love for you.’
