Hoërskool Randburg musician releases motivational new music

Hoërskool Randburg's young, talented artist, Tamsyn Faulds, hopes her new track inspires people.

Matric learner at Hoërskool Randburg Tamsyn Faulds has released an inspiring single titled: The Finish Line.

Tamsyn explained that the song is about having to cross over into the next chapter, and being scared to do so because you don’t know what lies ahead. “I have to cross a big finish line very soon, as I near the end of my matric year. That scares me a little bit. I don’t know what’s going to happen, where I’m supposed to go, or what I’m supposed to do, but I know that I’ll be okay. I know I’m not alone and I have hope despite being scared.”

She walked into the studio with that idea, and it evolved into the song it is now. With the help of her producer, Daniel Baron, she took the idea and turned it into a reality. The young artist said that she hopes people can relate to the song, and be reminded that they aren’t alone. “I hope that the song can also evoke a feeling of hope for anyone at different chapters in their lives.”

As an emerging artist, Tamsyn’s biggest challenge was putting what was in her heart into words. She explained that, as someone who has just entered the music industry, she still has a lot to learn, and there will be a few challenges ahead. “On of those challenges was the amount of schoolwork and exams while writing and producing the song. Matric is hectic.”

Her love for music and helping people is what led her to start making music. “I have always loved singing. It brings me so much joy and it is a way of letting my feelings out and showing my heart. I also want to help people and try to make a difference, so I decided to try and do that through music, and by doing something I love.”

Tamsyn said that her community, and the people around her, have been extremely supportive, not only by listening to the song, but by sharing it and engaging about it, and that means a lot to her. “I feel very touched and am very happy that many people are relating to the song. I am extremely grateful. I have a lot to learn, and I can’t wait to share this journey with everyone. I would like people to know that they are not alone, and that there is always hope.”

The talented artist is working on releasing more music in the future, as well as taking part in Afrikaans is 100 in August at the school. “I’m looking forward to some exciting performances in the near future that will include my new song.”
