Two arrested after man assaulted in Blairgowrie park

A man was hospitalised after being attacked by two acquaintances in a Blairgowrie park on October 6. Quick action by security officers led to their arrest.

According to Beagle Watch area manager David Caserio, officers responded to a phone-in report at around 18:49, alerting them to a fight taking place in the park.

“When our team arrived, they found a man lying unconscious on the ground and immediately called for medical assistance,” Caserio said.

Emergency services were contacted, and a Netcare ambulance arrived shortly after. The victim was treated at the scene before being taken to Helen Joseph Hospital for further medical care.

Police from the Linden Police Station also attended the scene. Caserio confirmed that the incident involved three men who were known to each other and are believed to be from Diepsloot.

“An argument between the three escalated into a physical altercation, with two of the men attacking the third,” he explained.

Beagle Watch response officers Dumisani Mqadi and Thuthukani Gwala managed to locate and detain the suspects before handing them over to the police.

Linden police confirmed that both suspects were arrested and taken into custody.

Police have opened a case of assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm (GBH), and investigations into the incident are ongoing.
