Hendrik Bodenstein, Ward 99 councillor, confirmed that the outage happened at 06:00 this morning. “It’s been a rough morning. Traffic was hell with all the traffic lights out.”

He added that the SDC is busy restoring, with some parts having come back online, but there is a heavily fluctuating voltage. “I presume that this will continue until everything is back online.”

The SDC reported that the operators have been notified and will be dispatched to investigate the cause of the outage. “We don’t have any details yet about which substation tripped. More info will be available as soon as operators attend to the outages.”
