Soulbent Project leads Honeydew drive for cleaner streets

The Soulbent Project NPO is on a mission to clean up Honeydew, with CEO Mashudu Makhado saying the campaign is as much about changing minds as it is about clearing rubbish.

The Soulbent Project non-profit organisation (NPO) has launched a clean-up campaign in Honeydew, with CEO Mashudu Makhado saying the initiative goes beyond picking up litter.

He says it’s about changing the way residents think about their environment.

Makhado said the campaign targets illegal dumping, littering, and environmental degradation in the area, while also encouraging recycling and responsible waste management among residents.

“Our mission is not only to clean the environment, but also to inspire lasting behavioural change. We want to empower local residents to take ownership of their surroundings.”

The Soulbent Project brought together volunteers, community members, and various stakeholders for the campaign, with Makhado describing the turnout as a demonstration of what communities can achieve when they work together.

He thanked everyone who took part, saying their contribution was making a visible difference on the ground.

Makhado added that the organisation’s broader goal was to build a future where clean streets, healthy ecosystems, and community wellbeing were treated as priorities, rather than afterthoughts.

“Together, we can restore dignity to our communities and leave a lasting environmental legacy for future generations.”
