Armed with black bags, gloves, and team spirit, the volunteers picked up waste around the police station and also swept the corridors.
Mzi Khumalo, of the CPF, said: “The team was effective, and getting the occasional thank you from the police officers and members of the public meant a lot. We are proud of the members for demonstrating their willingness and readiness to do this work.”

He added that the clean-up was in response to the budget cuts across government departments. To mitigate the effects of the cuts, the CPF is asking for the services of skilled people. “If there are plumbers available to contribute, we can use their services. We also extend this plea to vehicle mechanics who can help keep the police fleet in good and ready condition.”

Khumalo said that they would also be hosting fundraising activities. “We will publish the details on our social media channels.”
He extended heartfelt thanks to all the volunteers who came out and supported the clean-up. “We are pleased with the turnout. This level of contribution is rare and very appreciated. The next one will be better publicised, so that we bring in even more people.”
