Tennis academy serves up winter holiday fun
Advantage Tennis Academy wrapped up a successful winter clinic this week, with young players already eyeing the next tournament.
Chilly winter mornings did nothing to dampen the spirit at Randburg Tennis Club this week, as more than 30 young players packed the courts for the Advantage Tennis Academy winter clinic.
Running from Tuesday to Thursday, the clinic saw children grouped into sections for hours of coaching focused on strokes and technique, before a mini-tournament put their new skills to the test. Coach Gareth Gibson said he was thrilled with how many players turned out, many bringing friends along to join in the fun.

Beyond the tennis, the week was packed with light hearted extras designed to keep spirits high. A crazy sock day had players showing off their wildest pairs, while a funky hair day saw plenty of gel and colour on display. Prizes for the best efforts on both days added an extra layer of excitement to the programme.

The mini-tournament produced a strong set of results across the sections. Adriano Palacious and Daniel Pieterse claimed section one, Jayden Schlebusch and Johann Du Preez topped section two, and Benji Vosloo and Jacob Faurie rounded out the podium in section three.

Looking ahead, Gibson confirmed the academy will host another tournament from July 14 to July 16, during the final week of the school holidays. The mini-court will host younger players from 08:00 to 09:00, while the full court will be reserved for older children from 09:00 to 12:30.
Off the back of a successful week, the team at Advantage Tennis Academy say they cannot wait to welcome the next wave of young players back onto the court.
