Douglasdale CPF issues urgent safety alert after dogs die in suspected Jukskei Park poisonings
Pet owners in Jukskei Park have been urged to inspect their properties and monitor their animals after four dogs died from suspected poisoned meat.
Residents in Jukskei Park have been urged to inspect their properties and guard their pets following a spate of dog deaths on September 17.
According to the Douglasdale Community Policing Forum (CPF), four dogs died and two required emergency treatment after eating pieces of mince suspected to contain poison.

The organisation shared a safety alert on social media warning pet owners to remain vigilant and spread the word to neighbours. A security flyer circulated along with the alert revealed that perpetrators often toss meat and sausage laced with organophosphates or rat poison over boundary walls. It urged residents to supervise pets outdoors, inspect yards daily, and train dogs not to eat food found on the ground or offered by strangers.
Pet owners were also advised to monitor animals for symptoms including vomiting, excessive drooling, tremors, seizures or collapse, and to seek immediate veterinary care if signs appear.

Anyone who spots suspicious activity is urged to report it to the SAPS on 10111 or to the relevant emergency veterinary services.
The Randburg Sun has approached the Douglasdale CPF for further comment and this article will be updated once a response is received. The police were also contacted and promised to respond when possible.
