The peaceful march, organised by Takalani ‘Nthabi’ Mulaudzi and Thembi Mushaathoni, started at the Multipurpose Centre and ended at the Cosmo City Police Station, where organisers handed over a memorandum outlining the community’s concerns.
Mulaudzi said recent violent incidents, including gender-based violence, killings, robberies, hijackings, kidnappings and rape, prompted the demonstration. He added that a recent spate of murders targeting women had left residents in fear.
The memorandum was received by Captain Anna Ramalobe at Cosmo City Police Station, with representatives committing to engage with residents and address their grievances within seven working days.

The document sets out several key demands, including increased police visibility and patrols, stronger responses to violent crime, effective investigations, action against drug dealing, protection for vulnerable residents, and closer co-operation between police and the community.

Mulaudzi stressed that authorities must deliver clear responses and practical steps as soon as possible, warning that organisers will continue engaging officials or consider further peaceful action if their demands are ignored. She encouraged community members to remain active in local safety structures by attending meetings, joining the CPF, reporting crimes through official channels, and taking part in peaceful safety initiatives.
