Bordeaux South community steps in to help fire victims
Randburg residents unite to support six tenants who lost their belongings in a house blaze at a Republic Road property.
Six tenants who lost nearly all their belongings in a house fire at the corner of Republic Road and Jan Smuts Avenue are receiving support following a community relief effort.
After learning of the tragedy, Ward 102 councillor Bea Campbell-Cloete appealed to residents for help rebuilding the lives of those affected. The response was swift, with residents stepping forward to donate food, clothing and essential items.

Community rallies behind displaced residents
Campbell-Cloete visited the tenants to deliver the donated goods, including food, clothes, bedding, pots and pans, but said further assistance is needed.
She added that they still need two beds, bedding, towels and a gas stove, noting that the tenants are living in temporary accommodation.

For the tenants, who lost their belongings, clothes and important documents in the blaze, the donations offer more than material support.

Campbell-Cloete said the community’s response highlights the power of coming together in times of need, ensuring the victims do not face the tragedy alone, and expressed her gratitude to residents for supporting vulnerable people.
