Mlimi ready to fight for first place

RANDBURG – With four rounds left in the MX125 championship, young rider Joshua Mlimi feels confident that he can take the number one spot.

Joshua Mlimi is taking the motocross world by storm.

Mlimi, a Bloubosrand resident, is a rider in the MX high-school category and is currently third in the rankings.

He explained that his love for motocross started at a young age and his father Eury Mlimi set an example for him.

According to Joshua, his father was the first professional black motocross rider in South Africa in the ’80s, and he turned the industry on its head.

Monster Energy regional communications manager Sebastian Clay said the youngster performed extremely well in the third round of the MX125 high-school category when he competed against the best of the best on 30 May in Port Elizabeth.

Clay said, “Mlimi finished third just behind fierce competitor Charl van Eeden and he is currently in third place in the championship with 130 points.”

Joshua commented that the race was hard as Dirco van der Westhuizen, who took first place, and Charl van Eeden are both skilled competitors.

“The championship is far from over as there is still four rounds left. It will be a chase to the title as the three of us are all ready to fight for it,” added Joshua.

“The fourth round of the MX category is scheduled to take place on 27 June in Durban and I wish Mlimi all the best,” concluded Clay.
