Jog for a grog

PRAEGVILLE – Runners stop at five pubs while completing the Grog Jog at Randburg Harriers.

Running and drinking alcohol do not often go together, but they do at the Grog Jog.

The annual event, also known as the Charman’s Run, was held by Randburg Harriers and as always, was well attended and encompassed a festive vibe from start to finish.

The catch, or attraction rather for most, is that five pubs are visited on the route and each participant enjoys any drink on the menu with the exception of spirits.

Most drink a beer or cider.

“The entrance fee also entitled the participant food at the fifth pub,” said Harriers chairperson Jacob Shayi.

This last pub was at the Randburg Harriers clubhouse, 6.7km later.

“While we only had a week to advertise the Grog Jog, I would like to think that it was well-received and supported as we had at least 80 participants on the day. The feedback from the participants was that they thoroughly had a great time.”
