Crusaders put 4 goals past SA Institute of Soccer

Crusaders will shift their focus to another tough match as they continue to fight for the title.

Crusaders hosted the SA Institute of Soccer at St Stithians College in a Rand Central Local Football Association (RCLFA) senior league match that carried heavy implications for the title race.

Crusaders, firmly focused on keeping their championship hopes alive, wanted nothing less than three points. The visitors arrived with equal determination to claim a vital result of their own.

From the start, Crusaders took control, creating promising chances. However, their finishing lacked the sharpness needed to convert early dominance into goals. In front of the goal, hesitation and rushed decisions betrayed a side clearly feeling the pressure of chasing the league.

The SA Institute of Soccer refused to be overrun. They showed resilience, combining neatly in midfield and testing the Crusaders’ structure with purposeful movement. Yet, the home side’s defence remained disciplined, organised, and unwilling to concede space.

The second half took a different turn. Crusaders emerged with renewed urgency, pressing high and denying the visitors time on the ball. Forced into long passes, the visitors began to lose their rhythm. The breakthrough finally came after a well-worked combination, as the Crusaders capitalised to open the floodgates (1–0).

Momentum shifted, and minutes later, the lead was doubled, and confidence grew in the home side. Makwela Maishe, in inspired form, added a third with a composed finish, sealing his brace and putting the game beyond reach.

The visitors struggled to contain the continuous waves of attack, and just before the final whistle, Crusaders struck again to make it 4–0. It was a commanding performance when it mattered most and a statement victory that keeps the Crusaders’ title chase on track.
