Crusaders fight back after being down at the half to beat Panorama FC

Crusaders FC recovered from a slow first half to defeat Panorama FC, scoring three second-half goals at St Stithians in an entertaining RCLFA league clash.

Crusaders FC showed real grit at St Stithians this week, fighting back from a goal down to grab a well-deserved win against Panorama FC in the Rand Central Local Football Association league.

The home side got off to a flying start when Lwazi Khuboni launched a massive long-throw into the box, which was met with a brilliant header to open the scoring.

However, Panorama didn’t let their heads drop. Less than ten minutes later, their number nine, Kian Maharaj, finished off a tidy team move to equalise.

Panorama kept the pressure on and were rewarded just before the break when Maharaj struck again, putting the visitors 2–1 up at half-time.

Speaking after the match, Crusaders boss Lefate Makuyane admitted the first half wasn’t up to scratch. He was honest about the performance, noting there were too many mistakes and that they failed to take their chances. He also felt the attacking midfielders needed to help out the defence more, which left the team exposed.

Whatever was said in the changing room at half-time worked a treat. The Crusaders came out flying and turned the game on its head in the space of just two minutes. First, Ofentse Pule smashed in a cracking equaliser, and moments later, Makwela Maishe slotted home a simple finish to put Crusaders back in front.

Panorama’s afternoon went from bad to worse when Dylan Vergie was sent off. Crusaders took full advantage of the extra man almost immediately, with Mokwateng Abel scoring to seal the win.

Makuyane was delighted that his players listened to his instructions, noting that he had asked for two goals in two minutes and got exactly that. Once ahead, the team relaxed and started passing the ball around well.

The manager also took time to praise his squad individually. He singled out Sipho Monyai for a rock-solid performance at centre-back and highlighted Lwazi Khuboni for showing real leadership in the midfield.

He was also pleased with Doku, who had a storming game at left-back, despite playing out of position, and mentioned that Luka is looking sharp as he works his way back to full fitness.

Despite the sweltering heat and Panorama’s pressing style, it was a proper comeback and a vital three points for the home team.
