The atmosphere was electric, as skaters of all ages gathered to celebrate six years of the skate school’s journey. The special open day brought together students, families, and supporters for a fun-filled event displaying the talent and passion that has defined the school since its opening.

The celebration was made even more meaningful by the school’s return to its original home, where the dream first began. After spending several successful years at Cresta Mall, the skate school has come full circle, reconnecting with its roots and the community that helped shape its growth.
Skate School Academy founder and head coach Shayne Robinson explained that the school started as him teaching his daughter, and grew to what it is. “The school now has over 40 students. We take skating differently here. It is more than just sports; it the friendly space where parents can bring their children to have fun. We have more girls than any skate school in the country, and we have a different curriculum, and we push neurodiversity as well.”

Throughout the day, skaters took to the floor with confidence, demonstrating impressive skills they had developed. From beginners proudly mastering new techniques to advanced skaters performing exciting routines, every performance reflected the school’s hard work in developing talent and fostering a love for skating.
Laughter and applause filled the venue as the attendees cheered on the participants. The event not only celebrated six successful years; it highlighted the friendships, memories, and achievements built along the way. “We are still desperately looking for sponsors to assist in building all the ramps. Anyone who wants to get involved can contact us. We have plenty of space. They can put around banners and those things for advertising.”
Robinson added that the day was a success, also mentioning that their curriculum runs through a mobile app, and that skaters can access everything on their phones anytime.
