MOVIE REVIEW: Jackass presents Bad Grandpa
Randburg Sun reporter Rick Marais reviews new comedy film Bad Grandpa on behalf of the Randburg Sun and Ster-Kinekor Northgate.
GENRE: Comedy
RUNNING TIME: 92 minutes
CAST: Johnny Knoxville (The Dukes of Hazzard), Jackson Nicoll
DIRECTED BY: Jeff Tremaine (Jackass: The Movie)
RATING:
Currently showing at Ster-Kinekor Northgate.
PLOT: Irving Zisman is an 86-year-old man who loses his wife of 46 years. At the funeral his eight-year-old grandson Billy is abandoned by his mother and left in the hands of his grandfather. The duo are on a road trip across America to drop Billy off at his father and during this trip the pair target unsuspecting citizens with hidden camera stunts.
THE GOOD: Knoxville brings back his stunt-crazed Jackass character who is not afraid to challenge himself and those around him. Nicoll’s character Billy fuses seamlessly with Knoxville’s character Irving.
THE BAD: The first five stunts are funny but the movie quickly becomes predictable after 20 minutes.
VERDICT: The film is typical of Jackass and fans will get what they paid for. Although the actors are excellent the film becomes boring and predictable. If Jackass is your thing you should go and watch the film but if you weren’t crazy about the previous films, this one won’t turn that around.
