The Randburg Square team partnered with Clean City to clean up the CBD and repaint the children’s play area.

The initiative, called Randburg Saturdays, takes place every third Saturday of the month. Dali Cele, founder and CEO of Clean City, explained that the decision was driven by a desire to create a clean, vibrant, and inviting environment where children feel excited and comfortable to play.

“The play area is an important part of the family experience at Randburg Square, and we wanted to refresh the space so that it looks well–maintained, welcoming, and appealing to children, while also creating a more pleasant environment for parents and families visiting the centre,” he said. Cele added that the team hopes these improvements will create a more family–friendly environment.

“A clean, fresh, and inviting play area gives children a safe and exciting space to enjoy, while giving parents greater peace of mind and encouraging families to spend more time in the CBD. Ultimately, we want families to feel that the CBD is a place where they are welcomed, valued, and able to create positive experiences together.”

He confirmed that painting the play area was approved by Johannesburg City Parks and Zoo. While 33 volunteers had registered for the clean–up, 67 turned up on the day. “The project was made possible through a collaborative effort with Clean City.

Their involvement was instrumental in helping us bring the project together, including mobilising additional volunteers who generously contributed their time and effort. It was a great example of what can be achieved when the centre, community partners, and volunteers work together towards creating a better environment for families and children.”

The team plans to maintain the play area through regular cleaning, inspections, and ongoing upkeep to ensure it remains safe and inviting. “We also want to continue working with community partners such as Clean City and volunteers where possible, so that Randburg Square remains a space the community can be proud of.”
