The group is made up of the couple Ngcebo Mdima and Karabo Motlogelwa, who have been together for 10 years.

Mdima explained that Umaqondana translates from IsiZulu to an exuberant celebration of finding ‘the one,’ and it is more than just a track but a movement.

“The song serves as an anthem for anyone who has ever triumphed in the journey of the heart. As the industry’s first-ever queer couple duo, we have built our career on the pillars of unity and inclusivity.”

With Umaqondana, they lean into their signature Afro house roots to create a rhythmic sanctuary for lovers everywhere. “We wanted this song to be a special gift to our supporters,” said Motlogelwa.
