Newborn kittens rescued and doing well

No More Tears Animal Rescue needs the community's help to continue doing rescues.

No More Tears Animal Rescue rescued three kittens, just over a week old, in a veld behind the municipal offices.

Stephan Hendricks, founder and director of the rescue centre explained a community member heard the kittens’ cries and went to have a look. Unsure if their mother was nearby, they let them be. When they were however still there the next morning, No More Tears jumped in and collected the animals.

They found one of the kittens had an injury to her head and another one’s toes were missing. They believe this to be due to rats that started eating the kittens.

Due to the kittens being so young, Stephan explained they needed to find them a foster mom who could also bottle-feed the babies.

“They were checked out by the vet and they are doing well.”

Around two weeks old now, the kittens don’t have names yet as they wanted to ensure their survival first.

They are set to stay with their foster mom until they are eight weeks old after which they will be put up for adoption. Stephan also mentioned another instance where they rescued a blind kitten.

No More Tears’ bills are piling up, and if they are unable to pay them, rescues like these three kittens may become impossible. Stephan said that their vet costs and kennel bills are also due shortly.

“We are rather desperate for donations. If we are unable to pay our bills, we won’t be able to help the animals. They would be the ones to suffer.”

Any person who wants to reach out can visit the rescue centre’s website at www.nomoretears.org.za or contact Stephan on 084 433 7748.

“We would be so glad if the community could help and support us,” Stephan said.
