A Randfontein police officer narrowly escaped death on 4 June when a fleeing robber tried to run him over.
The officer, who is part of the Randfontein Central sector police was on duty with his team when they received a call on the sector cellular phone.
They were given information about people trying to steal a vehicle at the Hoƫrskool Jan Viljoen hostel in First Street in the randfontein CBD.
The caller also gave officers a description of the vehicle used by the suspects, which was a Toyota Verso.
The officers rushed to the area and were able to spot the suspicious vehicle.
They managed to force the vehicle to pull over and left their police vehicle in order to search the suspects and their vehicle.
